NZSA 2025
The 2025 NZ Screen Awards on 21 November was an overdue and warmly welcomed new combined celebration of our skills, creativity and talent across screens large and small.
And a perfect symbol of the industry’s endurance, tenacity and versatility was the Screen Legend status awarded to Sam Neill at the inaugural NZSA event.
The most poignant moment saw Lee Tamahori’s Best Director award for The Convert just days after his passing, accepted by producer Robin Scholes.
An interesting night for RBA, with Tem Morrison and George Henare competing for the same award, George a popular winner for his supporting role in The Rule of Jenny Pen (and a mighty career before that) ; and Best Film going to Ka Whawhai Tonu which features Cliff Curtis, Temuera Morrison, international award winning beginner Hinerangi Harawira-Nicholas, and Mike Jonathan in director mode.
