Dynamic performer bridging dance, theatre and screen with powerful presence.
Kasina Campbell is a dynamic Māori artist of Ngāti Porou, Ngāi Tūpoto, Te Rarawa, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairoa and Tararā descent, based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand). With more than two decades of professional experience, she began her career in dance and choreography before expanding into acting and, most recently, artistic director for the stage.
As a dancer she has performed internationally, including principal roles in Lemi Ponifasio’s MAU works Children of Gods, Stones in Her Mouth, Prometheus and Birds With Sky Mirrors, and with Atamira Dance Company in Ngā Wai. Her choreography and movement direction credits include ONCE the Musical and Much Ado About Nothing at Pop-Up Globe. As an actor, a career highlight in 2024 saw Kasina embody and soar as Kurungaituku in Hatupatu | Kurungaituku – A Forbidden Love, a landmark theatre production with Taki Rua Productions.
Kasina’s screen work spans film, television and short film. She has appeared in King Kong, Vai, Whina and Smoky, and on television in The Gone. She has also featured in music videos and commercials, alongside early stunt and performance work.
She continues to deepen her craft through screen training and has recently expanded her creative practice into artistic direction and creation within avant-garde theatre, following the lineage of MAU. Kasina brings a rare combination of physical presence, dramatic skill and creative vision to every project.
