Vanya’s path to the screen has been fascinating and unique. Born in Russia, growing up in New Zealand, he showed an early instinct for performance, and a fascination with theatre. His journey started in the world of circus and carnival - training in fire dancing, aerial and ground acrobatics and developing a passion for contemporary dance. A successful move to burlesque (as Ivan The Red) ignited the acting bug and he started to build his credentials beyond physical performance and stage combat. A web series called AFK delivered Vanya’s screen debut as he continues grow his profile with a fondness for strange, dark characters.
