From a multicultural, multiracial background, with an international career based in activism and advocacy, and a longstanding enthusiasm for African film, Kubé Jones-Neill entered the world of performance and production with The Royal Treatment, one of Netflix’s most watched 2022 titles.

(She says in fact the performance bug first bit her aged 7 as the narrator in the operetta The Wedding Of The Flowers.)

Born Sherron Jones, in Northampton County North Carolina, she acquired a degree in mass communications, with a specialty in technical theatre, lighting and scenic design. She then took the name Kubé while involved in African Studies doing her Masters at Howard University.

Thoroughly settled in Auckland with her husband Michael Neill, Kubé has had an extensive career in corporate communication and also channels her passion for the Continent into supporting and promoting New Zealand’s African Film Festival.
