In a long career filled with milestones and memories, an unquestionable highlight for Georgina Monro was the 2024 New Zealand tour of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, one of the biggest and most successful theatrical events of recent years.
With Georgina playing Evelyn (Judi Dench in the movie), this international co-production was presented by the Stetson Group in association with Ben McDonald Presents. It featured top UK artists - including Coronation Street fan favourite Rula Lenska, Harmage Singh Kalirai and director Lucy Waterhouse - in collaboration with an ensemble cast of some of New Zealand’s finest character actors.
From her first feature film, Constance, to Ian Mune’s End of the Golden Weather, to multiple Shortland Street characters, many stage productions, commercials and voice-overs, Georgina has built an enviable reputation as a versatile and valued colleague and performer. A 1981 graduate of NZ Drama School Toi Whakaari, Georgina added a Masters in Creative Writing (Honours) at AUT in 2013.
