Premiering 24 January on TVNZ On Demand, The Dead Lands is a Māori world in a time before time – the time of stories. Murdered Māori warrior Waka Nuku Rau has been sent back to the world of the living to redeem his sins. But the world Waka returns to is ravaged by the supernatural, as the spirits of the newly dead now stalk the land and hunt the living. Waka and a young woman named Mehe must find a way to repair their broken world. RBA's Vicky Haughton brings her gravitas to bear as as Waka's mother Turika, and Briar Rose's fierce physicality is on display as Wana.
