Two RBA Triple Threats
As conniving lawyer Billy Flynn, RBA’s Joel Tobeck unleashed his ‘triple threat’ singing, dancing and acting skills in the production of Chicago The Musical that recently completed its must-see runs in Auckland and Christchurch. Joining him was RBA’s Jackie Clarke in what Felicity Molloy called ’a riotous collection of justice, glitter and all that jazz....a cacophony of voluptuous movement – a match made in heaven (or thereabouts). Director Michael Hurst O.N.Z.M., choreographer Shona McCullagh M.N.Z.M., and musical director Paul Barrett deliver an outstanding evening of vaudeville laced with cynicism, feminine wiles, and buttocks galore.’
And Jackie Clarke was described by Sophie Ricketts in The Press as ‘the total package’ as Mama Norton:
‘She’s a stunning vocalist (duh), who masterfully nails the physical humour and double entendres the role requires. She slinks around the stage with the entitlement of an expensive house cat and the boldest twinkle in her eyes.’
