Special treat
Doing it her inimitable way at the Q Theatre is Deb Filler our one-of-a-kind Kiwi Jewish actor, comic, musician and writer - home for the first time in years with this charming, poignant, multi-media, world-wide hit performed in London, Toronto, NY, Vancouver, DC, Sydney, Jerusalem, LA etc. (No Yiddish required!)
This brilliant storyteller delights audiences with these (mostly) true stories of how deeply music affects our lives. As Deb drives a car service in New York City, she takes us on a truly incredible ride with Leonard Cohen, reducing the venerable Canadian folksinger to tears of laughter. Her story of meeting Leonard Bernstein in the Auckland Town Hall as a teen, bringing him fresh challah bread from her father, a survivor of the Holocaust who heard Bernstein play Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue in Displaced Persons' Camp after the war, is nothing short of extraordinary. What happens next is unbelievable. With only a guitar and a raft of lovable characters, Deb’s a one-woman, tour de force in this jam-packed, music and humour-filled show.
